Lauren Rowe scored her second goal in as many games as AFC Toronto earned a draw in its first home match at York Lions Stadium.

Toronto, ON (June 13, 2026) – AFC Toronto earned a 1-1 draw against Montreal Roses FC on Saturday afternoon in the club’s first home game of the season at York Lions Stadium. Toronto (2-2-2) is undefeated in consecutive games and sits fifth in the Northern Super League table with eight points.

For the second game in a row, Lauren Rowe opened the scoring for AFC Toronto. After an initial attempt from Kaylee Hunter, Rowe struck the loose ball from the top of the box to give Toronto the lead. The 21-year-old forward now has two goals in her fourth start and sixth appearance this season. Montreal’s Lisa Pechersky later tied the game with a goal in stoppage time.

Head coach Marko Milanović: “What's encouraging for me, personally, is that we have two games in a row now, Calgary and this one, where we allowed very little on our goal. Barely any chances (against). I think there was one dangerous one in the first half off a corner, and outside of that, I don't remember too many dangerous moments.”

Next weekend, AFC Toronto hits the road to face Ottawa Rapid FC at TD Place Stadium on Sunday, June 21 at 12 p.m. ET.

LAUREN ROWE: Rowe has goals in back-to-back games, matching her goal total of two from her rookie season in just her fourth start of the year.

STRONG BACK LINE: AFC Toronto continues to have the fewest goals against this season, with just six conceded in six games.

JORDAN BREWSTER: The 26-year-old defender made her Northern Super League debut on Saturday, playing 76 minutes in her first start with AFC Toronto.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: AFC Toronto now holds a 0-1-1 record against Montreal Roses FC this season.

UP NEXT: AFC Toronto faces Ottawa Rapid FC at TD Place Stadium on Sunday, June 21 at 12 p.m. ET (Stream on CBC Gem and NSL.ca).

More from the locker room:
Marko Milanović, on returning to York Lions Stadium: “We consider this home because we're here every day and we feel really comfortable. The players enjoy coming to this facility and so do the staff.”

Milanović, on the growth of the NSL: “The league is growing, it’s getting better. I think the quality of football is better this year than it was last year. Definitely I think every team has improved. We’re getting higher profile players in the league as well. Not just us, but the rest of the clubs as well. So I think there’s a lot to be excited about.”

Milanović, on playing while the 2026 FIFA World Cup is underway in Toronto: “It’s really cool that the World Cup is in our country, in our city. Hopefully it just brings more excitement and more eyes to the game.”

Lauren Rowe, on the moments leading up to her goal: “We were kind of on our back foot and we weren’t getting too many opportunities forward. I think in those moments, though, we’re not really behind. We’re just taking a moment to slow down the game, so that those moments will come where Kaylee will get the opportunity and I’ll finish it behind her. We work together in those situations.”

Rowe, on her growing chemistry with Kaylee Hunter: “It definitely is, and throughout the game too. I think we got more comfortable with each other, player off each other well.”

Jordan Brewster, on joining AFC Toronto and the NSL: “I think it was a great opportunity with this team being in their second year. Still developing, getting through things, and finding their identity. So that was a cool thing to come and be a part of. … and then obviously being in Canada is cool. Been in a couple different countries playing, so just expanding my portfolio in terms of that. And just with Marko (Milanović) and Billy (Wilson), the team was just a good fit for me.”
