AFC Toronto Wins Fourth Straight with 3-0 Victory Over Ottawa at Home

Kaylee Hunter scored her second brace of the season
Cloey Uddenberg notched her first career Northern Super League goal off the bench

Toronto, ON (July 10, 2025) – AFC Toronto extended their winning streak to four with a commanding 3–0 victory over Ottawa Rapid FC on Thursday night, becoming the first team in the Northern Super League to notch four straight wins. Kaylee Hunter notched her second brace of the season to solidify the club’s three-point performance.

Hunter opened the scoring in the 17th minute, tucking away a composed finish off a pinpoint pass from Nikki Small. Just seven minutes later, Hunter doubled the lead, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to notch her second of the night and sixth of the season – solidifying her place in second in the league’s Golden Boot race.

Late in the match, substitute Cloey Uddenberg put the game out of reach with a clean one-touch finish, her first career NSL goal. It was another strong showing of Toronto’s depth and resilience, with contributions coming from all over the pitch as they continue to build momentum atop the league table.

Kaylee Hunter on her two-goal performance: “Every goal I score fuels me to go get more. In every game, I’ve been working hard to hit the back of the net, and that just keeps me motivated. I’m focused on putting in strong performances, and hopefully more goals will come. I’ve got my eyes on the top scorer spot, so I’ll just keep pushing toward that.”

Head coach Marko Milanovic on the game's physicality: “We pride ourselves on playing with intensity and winning our duels – it’s the kind of game we prefer. Honestly, we like matches where not everything gets called. If we had to choose, that’s the style we’d take every time.”

---------------------------------

Captain Emma Regan: “It's obviously a much better feeling than the last time we [played Ottawa]. I think those losses, both of them, really fueled us. One thing this team does exceptionally well is bounce back. We don’t let setbacks bring us down; instead, we use them as fuel for what’s next. I told the team going in, ‘Today is our redemption,’ and we definitely fulfilled that.”

Kaylee Hunter on learning from teammates: “For me, I learn a lot from them, they’re very experienced players. Every day in our training environment is competitive and physical, and I think we carry that intensity into our matches. I try to go out there, have fun, and give my best effort every time. Lately, I’ve been hitting the back of the net, so hopefully that continues and we keep winning games for our fans.”

Milanovic on Cloey Uddenberg’s performance: “Cloey played the first two games of the season and hasn’t seen a minute since but if you were in our environment every day, you’d never know that. She does absolutely everything right. These players will tell you the same: the way she trains, takes care of her body, and puts in extra work daily is incredible. She’s a great example of what it means to stay ready and be rewarded for doing all the right things. She’s waited a long time for that moment, and I’m really happy for her – we all are.”

Regan on their winning streak: “I think we’re really proud to be at the top of the table, but we’ve always believed we had the ability to get here. As Marko says, it’s a testament to the character of this team – even when things haven’t gone smoothly, we’ve pushed through and delivered when it mattered. This is the payoff for that resilience, and we’re committed to keeping that mindset for the rest of the season.”
