TORONTO, ON (September 16, 2026) – AFC Toronto is turning back the clock at York Lions Stadium on Saturday, September 26, with a matchday celebration inspired by the 1990s.

Fans can expect a day of ’90s nostalgia, from old-school music and entertainment to throwback-inspired moments throughout the stadium, as AFC Toronto takes on Ottawa Rapid FC.

A ’90s Throwback at York Lions Stadium
The throwback experience will begin as fans arrive at York Lions Stadium. Ahead of kickoff, DJ Shiloh will bring the sounds of the ’90s to York Lions Stadium with an old-school mix, while matchday host Alicia “Ace” West keeps the energy going throughout the match. 

Toronto-based R&B singer Gordon will perform the national anthem. Blending smooth vocals with raw emotion and modern soul influences, Gordon is known for his laid-back delivery and introspective lyrics. Drawing inspiration from classic R&B and contemporary sounds, his music captures themes of love, personal growth and late-night vibes, bringing his own sound to Toronto’s diverse music scene. 

The Core Dance Group will return to the pitch for another special halftime performance.

More Matchday Moments 
Desjardins will activate at the Footy Festival, where fans can sign a giant cleat and take on the Desjardins Skills Arena, featuring an agility wall and photo booth experience.

At halftime, one lucky row will win an exclusive Clinique giveaway. Bring the energy, as you never know when your section might be called.

Special AFC Toronto Pitch Water will be available for fans to purchase at F&B locations throughout the venue, giving supporters a chance to stay refreshed while repping the club.

Side Launch Brewing Co. – Matchday Promotion
AFC Toronto supporters who are 19 and older can enjoy a special Side Launch promotion on matchday. 

Eligible fans (19+) will each receive a ticket upon stadium entry, redeemable for a complimentary sample of a Side Launch beverage. Fans can visit the sampling station in Footy Fest in the south end to redeem their ticket between 1:00 p.m. (gates open) and 2:00 p.m. (kickoff) and enjoy a taste of Side Launch before the match gets underway. Side Launch will also have a “Spin to Win”, giving each fan one spin to win a Side Launch giveaway. Celebrating AFC Toronto’s Community
The matchday experience will also feature a number of community activations.

AFC Toronto partners up with Ontario SPCA and Humane Society to launch special‑edition co‑branded pet bandannas, available exclusively at our final two York Lions Stadium matches on September 26th and October 4th! The bandanas will be available for purchase at both merch stands at the stadium, with 100% of the proceeds going to our community partner Ontario SPCA and Humane Society.

Supporters group Vermillion Vanguard will also be on-site promoting new memberships for the 2027 season.
