AFC Toronto heads into TD Place on Sunday riding its strongest stretch of the season. Winners of three straight – all by shutout, including a dominant 6-0 victory over Calgary Wild FC last weekend – the club (7-3-4, 24 points) sits third in the Northern Super League table. Toronto has lost just twice across its last 10 matches and has steadily closed the gap near the top of the table. 

Standing in the way is league-leading Ottawa Rapid FC (10-2-2, 32 points). Sunday marks the third of five regular-season meetings between the two sides, with Toronto looking to turn its recent momentum into a first win over the Rapid this season.

The opportunity is clear: a result in Ottawa would allow Toronto to further close the gap at the top of the table, exactly the challenge head coach Marko Milanović sees ahead.

THE OPPONENT
Ottawa currently sits atop the Northern Super League table with 32 points. The Rapid have earned a draw and a win against Toronto in their first two meetings this season, playing to a 1-1 draw at TD Place on June 21 before earning a 2-1 victory at York Lions Stadium on July 11. 

While Ottawa has had the edge in the season series, Toronto has competed well in both meetings — and enters Sunday's matchup in a very different run of form. Toronto has three consecutive shutout wins and just two losses in its last 10 matches.

WHAT TO WATCH
A defence finding its stride.
AFC Toronto has posted three straight shutout wins and leads the NSL with just 13 goals conceded through 14 matches. With Sabrina D’Angelo and Shelina Zadorsky anchoring the back line, Toronto will look to extend that run against Ottawa. 

Rowe and Hunter are rolling.
Lauren Rowe and Kaylee Hunter have combined for six goals and an assist across Toronto’s last three matches, with both tied for third in the Golden Boot race with seven goals. Rowe has also scored both of Toronto’s goals against Ottawa this season, with Hunter assisting on one. 

Closing the gap.
Toronto has lost just twice in its last 10 matches and has continued to climb the table. Eight points separate Toronto and league-leading Ottawa, making Sunday another opportunity to close the gap at the top.

Toronto has played Ottawa closely in the first two meetings, earning a draw and a one-goal loss. With three straight wins and a season-best run of form behind them, AFC Toronto enters Sunday's third meeting with an opportunity to claim its first win over the Rapid.
