Kaylee Hunter scored her first brace of the season, goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo earned a third straight clean sheet as AFC Toronto mounted the largest victory in the NSL this year
Calgary, AB (August 1, 2026) – AFC Toronto kicked off the month in style, earning a 6-0 victory over Calgary Wild FC at McMahon Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the club’s third straight shutout win. The match marks the largest margin of victory in the Northern Super League this season. AFC Toronto (7-3-4) sits third in the league table with 24 points, just three behind the second-place Montreal Roses FC.
Kaylee Hunter opened the scoring on Saturday, heading in a cross delivered by Lauren Rowe for her sixth of the year. Rowe was credited with her first assist of the season on the goal. Ten minutes later, AFC Toronto earned a penalty shot when Victoria Pickett was taken down in the box. Calgary’s Grace Stordy was subsequently dismissed, bringing Wild FC down to 10 players. Hunter converted from the penalty spot for the second time this week, earning her seventh goal and first brace of the season.
Minutes later, Lauren Rowe pounced on a loose ball in the box. After her initial attempt was saved, she buried the rebound for her seventh of the year. Toronto added a fourth before halftime, when Colby Barnett beat Calgary’s goalkeeper with a strike from the top of the box for her first of the year.
In the second half, Rollins headed in a corner kick delivered by Victoria Pickett for her first career NSL goal, with Pickett earning her first career NSL assist. Kaila Novak capped the scoring in stoppage time, striking a pass from Sarah Stratigakis for her second of the year, giving Stratigakis her third assist. Amidst another strong defensive effort, goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo was only called upon for one save, earning her third straight clean sheet.
“Good complete performance,” said assistant coach Sylvia Forbes. “I thought we had a lot of really good individual performances, and then as units, some really good performances as well. So we would just like to keep the momentum going moving into the next week and looking ahead to our next match.”
Next weekend, AFC Toronto travels to the nation’s capital to take on Ottawa Rapid FC at TD Place Stadium on Sunday, August 9th at 2 p.m. ET.

Sylvia Forbes, on how the club was able to find more scoresheet success against Calgary on Saturday compared to Tuesday’s 1-0 win: “Generally speaking, we stick to really similar objectives in training. I think sometimes individuals, we get some new looks into what would create some more problems for them. They do really well in units defending the box, especially in those areas. So we wanted to just touch upon different areas where we could try to exploit that. I think the moment you get some momentum and you start to score goals, sometimes more will come and the confidence plays into how the players are as well. We did focus quite a bit on specific areas of the game that would help us to be able to kind of try to find some holes where we could attack in those areas. But overall, the players all stuck to that game plan together. Similar to what we did in the last game, I think we just were able to finish a few more than maybe we could have the other day.”
Forbes on Sarah Rollins’ header goal: “Rollins has seen a lot of improvement, especially early. She's always been a really big piece of my set pieces that we design together. So that was obviously a special moment to see her succeed. I've moved her around a little bit and she's done well to adapt to the new role that she's had. I think today was one of her best performances on how she was in those set pieces in those attacking corners. So obviously when she finishes on a header, and that's the first, I would say, goal off of a corner that we've had aerially, you have to be proud. Obviously it's going to bring a huge smile to my face. That's something that we were prioritizing as an improvement area for the group and she takes everything really seriously. To see her excited and smiling is out of the ordinary because she's usually laser focused. So seeing the joy on her face, obviously she's pleased with herself, but she knows how proud I am of her as well and her teammates too. So it was exciting.”
Sarah Rollins on her goal: “I noticed the space in between the goalie and their zonal players and nobody was marking me. So I was like, anything that comes in this area is something that I can go for.”
Kaylee Hunter: “I think the first half was very positive. I think once we got our first goal, we kind of didn't take our foot off the gas pedal. We knew that this was a game where we wanted to score as many goals as we could. So I think once we got in, those opportunities were clinical. I was happy to get on the end of two of them. And yeah, it's always special to be at home playing in front of my friends and family. I have a lot of people that come out, so it's definitely special to hit the back of the net.”
Hunter, on playing alongside Lauren Rowe: “I think it's been good. Me and Lauren have built a strong relationship on the pitch. I think we work well off of each other. She's really rapid and fast. So if I come off the front and I can get on the ball, I can dish her off from behind. But yeah, like I said, we just work well off of each other. Whether she's scoring, I’m assisting, I'm scoring, she's assisting, we're happy with whatever, as long as we're doing it for the team. And yeah, we just hope we can keep this momentum going into the next coming weeks because we've got a couple big games coming up.”
