Toronto, ON (July 17, 2025) - AFC Toronto announced today that midfielder Colby Barnett has signed a contract extension that will keep her with the club through the 2027 Northern Super League season.
Barnett, 22, has been a cornerstone of AFC Toronto’s inaugural campaign, starting every match and playing every minute of the season thus far. Her consistency, creativity, and competitive drive have made her a vital player for Marko Milanovic. She also notched her first professional goal earlier this season, adding to her growing impact in the final third.
A former standout at Santa Clara University and U.S. Youth National Team player, Barnett originally joined AFC Toronto in January 2025. Her commitment to AFC Toronto’s vision and her early-season performances have quickly validated the club’s belief in her long-term potential.

“I really believe in what we’re building here,” said Barnett. “We’ve created a culture that’s competitive, supportive, and fun – and I want to keep growing with that. Plus, Toronto is an amazing city and I’m excited to stay longer.”
"Colby is someone who brings so much to this team – on and off the field,” said Billy Wilson, AFC Toronto Sporting Director. “She is a fantastic player who will continue to develop in our environment, however most importantly she's an incredible person who brings so much positive energy to the environment on a daily basis. We are all delighted that Colby has committed her future to the AFC Toronto."
With Barnett now locked in through 2027, AFC Toronto continues to shape a strong and cohesive core for seasons to come – anchored by players committed to the long-term success of women’s professional soccer in Canada.
