There is plenty on the line Sunday as AFC Toronto hosts Vancouver Rise FC in the fifth and final meeting between the two sides this season. Toronto enters the match at 10-7-5 (37 points) and sits second in the Northern Super League table, four points back of first place. Sunday’s match also doubles as a quarterfinal in the inaugural W Canadian Championship.

Toronto holds a 2-0-2 record against Vancouver this season, with the two sides most recently meeting on July 18, when Vancouver earned a 3-0 victory at York Lions Stadium.

Toronto enters Sunday on a six-match unbeaten run after a 3-0 victory over Ottawa Rapid FC last weekend. Vancouver enters the match with 27 points from 22 matches and is fighting for the fourth and final playoff spot.

WHAT TO WATCH
The Race for the Supporters’ Shield
Following last weekend’s victory over Ottawa that secured AFC Toronto’s place in the playoffs, the club now turns its attention to the top of the Northern Super League table.

Toronto sits four points behind first-place Montréal with three regular-season matches remaining, keeping the club firmly in the Supporters’ Shield race. Sunday provides another opportunity to gain ground with the regular season nearing its conclusion.

A Place in the W Canadian Championship Semifinal
Sunday’s match also serves as a quarterfinal in the inaugural W Canadian Championship, Canada’s new domestic cup competition.

Organized by Canada Soccer, the single-elimination tournament provides the first pathway for Canadian clubs to compete in the 2027 Concacaf W Champions Cup, which is a qualifier for the inaugural FIFA Women’s Club World Cup in 2028.

With the quarterfinal decided in a single match, a win on Sunday would send AFC Toronto through to the semifinal.

Final Match Before the International Break
Sunday marks AFC Toronto’s final match before the international break, with Kaylee Hunter, Sabrina D’Angelo and Shelina Zadorsky set to represent Canada in a pair of friendlies against Denmark.

Final Regular-Season Match at York Lions Stadium
Sunday will also be AFC Toronto’s final regular-season match at York Lions Stadium in 2026.

The club will close out the regular season with two matches at BMO Field: October 18 against Calgary Wild FC and October 26 against Halifax Tides FC.
