TORONTO, ON (September 5, 2026) – AFC Toronto signs midfielder Zoe Hasenauer from 1.FC Köln for an undisclosed fee.
Hasenauer joins AFC Toronto following professional experience in Denmark and Germany with Odense Boldklub and FC Köln. The midfielder spent two seasons with Odense, helping the club earn promotion to Denmark’s top division in 2023-24, before joining FC Köln of the German Bundesliga in 2025.
“We are delighted to welcome Zoe to Toronto,” said Billy Wilson, Sporting Director. “She’s a forward-thinking midfielder who has enjoyed success in a number of different environments, both in Europe with Odense and FC Köln, following a hugely impressive collegiate career at Oregon, where she set numerous program records, including for assists and appearances.
Zoe brings real quality and experience to our midfield, and we believe she’ll have a big part to play as we enter the business end of our season,” continues Wilson.
During her 2023-24 campaign with Odense Boldklub, Hasenauer scored 11 goals to help the club secure promotion, finishing second in the league in scoring. She started every game and was named the club’s Player of the Month in September and November 2023.
The Simi Valley, California native played collegiately at the University of Oregon from 2018 to 2022, where she finished as the program’s all-time leader in career starts with 90 and assists with 19. She also represented the United States at the U20 level in 2019.
“I’m really excited to join AFC Toronto and experience a new football environment,” said Hasenauer. “I’ve loved my time playing overseas and experiencing different cultures, and I’m looking forward to bringing those experiences to Toronto. I’m ready to get started, meet the girls, and bring success to the team however I can!”
Off the field, Hasenauer enjoys reading, cooking, listening to music, travelling and experiencing new cultures. She also enjoys concerts, camping and hiking.
