TORONTO, ON (July 17, 2026) — AFC Toronto has made another statement of intent, signing American forward Lena Silano as the club prepares for the second half of the 2026 Northern Super League season.
Silano joins AFC Toronto after most recently competing with Spokane Zephyr FC in the USL Super League. Prior to that, she played in Spain's Liga F with UD Tenerife following two seasons in the National Women's Soccer League after being selected 34th overall by the Washington Spirit in the 2023 NWSL Draft.
"We are excited to welcome a player of Lena's calibre to the Club,” said Billy Wilson, Technical Director. “Lena is someone we have admired for some time. She is an intelligent forward who links play well, makes excellent runs in behind and has a real instinct for finding dangerous spaces. We create a high volume of quality chances as a team, and we are confident Lena has the qualities to turn those opportunities into goals in the NSL.”
Head Coach Marko Milanović says Silano's experience and qualities will complement the club's existing group.
"Lena has competed in a number of strong professional environments and brings valuable experience to our group. She is an intelligent forward who works well with teammates and finishes chances inside the box. We're looking forward to integrating her into our group and seeing the impact she can make."
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join AFC Toronto," said Silano. "From the conversations I had with the club, it was clear this is an ambitious organization with a strong culture and exciting vision for the future. I can't wait to meet my teammates, play in front of the supporters and contribute however I can as we push toward our goals this season."
A native of Agoura Hills, California, Silano enjoyed an outstanding collegiate career at Long Beach State University, where she tied the program's single-season scoring record with 16 goals and was named the 2022 Big West Offensive Player of the Year. She earned her degree in Recreational Therapy while also completing a minor in Geriatrics before beginning her professional career.
Away from football, Silano enjoys discovering new coffee shops and spending time with friends over card games.
Silano officially joins AFC Toronto on July 1 and will be eligible for selection when the Northern Super League transfer window opens on July 20.
