After playing every minute of the 2026 season, earning her first professional goal and signing a new contract through 2028, Sarah Rollins is establishing herself as one of the league's most dependable defenders.

There are few better measures of consistency than being there for every minute. For Sarah Rollins, that is exactly what the 2026 season represented.

The Toronto-born defender played every minute of AFC Toronto's 2026 campaign, establishing herself as a cornerstone of the team's backline and earning recognition as one of the Northern Super League's top defenders with her selection to the 2026 Team of the Season.

It is a significant milestone for a player whose development over the past 18 months has been one of steady progression, hard work and growing confidence.

After finding her footing during the inaugural NSL season, Rollins approached her second year with a greater sense of composure and consistency. Rather than making wholesale changes to her game, she focused on building on the foundations she had established, bringing greater confidence and maturity to her performances.

"I would describe it as growth," said Rollins. "From last year I was still finding my footing and this year I feel like I just stepped up to the plate. Every game it's just been more consistent."

That consistency extended beyond her defensive responsibilities. Rollins also opened her scoring account this season, finding the back of the net for the first time against Calgary Wild FC, adding another milestone to an already memorable campaign.

Her progression has not gone unnoticed. Sporting Director Billy Wilson recently highlighted Rollins' development, commitment and reliability when the club announced her new contract extension through 2028, reinforcing AFC Toronto's belief in her continued potential.

For Rollins, the recognition is also a reflection of the environment around her and the teammates who have helped push her forward.

"The hard work I put in training and that my teammates put in to make me better has really shown on the pitch and shown in games," she said.

With every minute of the 2026 season behind her and her future secured in Toronto, Rollins is continuing to build on what has already been an impressive rise.

Her Team of the Season recognition is not simply a reward for the season she has had, but an indication of what is still to come.
