Versatile, dependable and always ready to answer the call, Colby Barnett's impact goes far beyond the scoresheet.

In football, not every contribution can be measured in goals and assists. Sometimes, a player's greatest value lies in their ability to do whatever the team needs, wherever they are needed.

For Colby Barnett, that has become a defining part of her game.

Named to the NSL Team of the Season, for the second season in a row, Barnett has earned recognition for the consistency, versatility and commitment she brings to AFC Toronto. A player capable of filling multiple positions across the pitch, she has become one of the team's most reliable options and an important part of its success.

Head Coach Marko Milanovic has frequently highlighted Barnett's versatility, describing her as a player who can perform virtually anywhere on the field. That adaptability is an invaluable asset, allowing the team to adjust, respond and maintain its competitive edge without compromising quality.

While Barnett found the back of the net once during the 2026 campaign, her influence extends well beyond the scoresheet. Whether fulfilling a defensive responsibility, supporting the midfield or contributing further up the pitch, she consistently puts the team's needs first.

Reflecting on her season, Barnett described it as a gritty one, shaped by the different roles she was asked to take on.

"I've kind of been in a few positions here and there, and I think just trying to make the best out of wherever I'm at and do the best I can for the team," she said.

It is a mentality that speaks to the kind of player Barnett has become. Rather than focusing on a defined role, she embraces the opportunity to contribute wherever the team needs her.

That approach has also helped her continue developing as a player. Now in her second season in the NSL, Barnett believes the experience of competing at an increasingly high level has helped her become more composed and confident.

"I feel a little bit more composed. I think that just comes with experience," she said.

For Barnett, the Team of the Season recognition is also a reflection of the collective environment at AFC Toronto.

"It's a testament to our team's ability to help people like us shine. Without them, we wouldn't be here."

It is perhaps the best way to describe her own contribution. Barnett may not always be the player on the scoresheet, but she is consistently the player the team can count on.

And that kind of reliability is invaluable.
