Announced by AFC Toronto on January  2025, ahead of the club’s inaugural Northern Super League season. 

  

TRANSACTIONS 
Signed with AFC Toronto after graduating early from Santa Clara University, where she was one of the top-ranked attacking midfielders in NCAA Division I soccer. AFC Toronto contract extended through 2027.  

 

PROFESSIONAL 
Barnett is a versatile defender known for her pace, defensive awareness, and ability to contribute in wide areas. After developing through the NCAA system and gaining experience in North American competition, she joined AFC Toronto for the club’s inaugural Northern Super League season, quickly establishing herself as a reliable presence across the midfield. 

 

2025 – AFC Toronto  
In her inaugural professional season with AFC Toronto, Colby Barnett played in 28 games, logged 2,361 minutes, and scored 1 goal — including the match‑winning strike in a key 1‑0 victory over Halifax Tides.  

 

COLLEGE 
Barnett was a standout at Santa Clara University, where she played in 82 matches, starting three full seasons and playing over 5,575 minutes. She tallied 20 assists and 6 goals, including five game-winners, and helped Santa Clara maintain a top-25 national ranking throughout her collegiate career. She was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List in 2024 and earned multiple All-WCC, All-West Region, and United Soccer Coaches Midfielders to Watch selections. She graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Psychology in December 2024. 

  

YOUTH 
Barnett played for Blues SC in the ECNL, where she won a U16 national title in 2019, was named ECNL Southwest Player of the Year, and earned multiple national accolades including TopDrawerSoccer All-America First Team. She captained Los Alamitos High School, where she was a two-time Sunset League Player of the Year and a four-time All-Sunset First Team selection. 

  

INTERNATIONAL 
Barnett was called into six U.S. U15 Youth National Team camps, including one international call-up, providing early exposure to elite national-level competition. 

  

OFF THE FIELD 
Known for her work ethic and flair on the ball, Barnett combines creativity and toughness in the final third. Off the pitch, she’s laid-back and full of personality, with a love for surfing, concerts, and a bagel for breakfast on matchday.
